Life as a Cover Band Guitar Musician
Playing covers isn't just learning somebody else's guitar part. It's figuring out what makes the song work and then bringing your own energy to it.
One song might call for classic rock crunch. The next needs some blues. Then we're switching gears for country, funk, or hard rock.
That's what makes playing in a cover band so much fun.
And then there's the solo.
Sometimes you learn it note-for-note (😉). Sometimes you put your own spin on it. And sometimes you just hope nobody in the audience plays guitar.
Two Guitars Are Better Than One
Being in a dual-guitar band means listening as much as playing.
It's not about both guitars trying to be the loudest thing in the room. One might be holding down the rhythm while the other takes the lead. Then we switch it up.
When it works, the guitars become one big sound instead of two guys fighting for space.
Why We Do It
After all the rehearsals, gear, cables, and occasional musical arguments, there's nothing quite like hitting that first chord and hearing the crowd react.
People start singing.
Someone gets up and dances.
The room comes alive.
That's the payoff.
We're not trying to be a jukebox. We're trying to take songs people already love and make them live again.
And yes, I'll probably still bring too much gear.
